A study presented at the American College of Sports Medicine annual meeting revealed the most effective sports recovery drink to be chocolate milk. This came as quite a surprise to all those who have been prescribing to scientifically designed sport recovery beverages. Especially as these drinks aren’t exactly cheap. The study was tested on 13 soccer players who showed better recovery results than those drinking sports recovery drinks. What you consume in the first two hours after a workout is crucial to the effectiveness of your fitness routine. Hydrating is important, but you also want to replace the minerals that you lost through sweating, and feed the muscles with what they need to recover. That’s why chocolate milk has proven to be so effective. It contains the fluids and nutrients that you lost in sweat and has the carbs and protein you need to help your muscles recover. The soccer players who drank chocolate milk and participated in vigorous training enjoyed a better muscle recovery than those who drank the sports recovery drinks. Chalk one up for chocolate milk.
