The Cascade Cycling Classic is the longest consecutively run elite road bicycle racing stage race in the United States. It’s based in Bend, Oregon and takes place in the Central Oregon region. For most of North America’s top cyclists, the race is a yearly fixture. Read story
A few weeks ago we visited the Canada Snowboard team at their training centre in Whistler. It was pretty clear that their expert coaches and state-of-the-art facility make it easy and entertaining to train in the off-season, even while the prospect of riding on fresh powder is only a dream. Between their activities we had the chance to catch up with a few of the athletes and talk to them about training, recovery and their goals for the future.

Cycling BC represents the full range of disciplines including Road Biking, Track & Cyclo-cross, Mountain Biking and BMX. On May 28th, they celebrated their official 2011 team launch at Jack Poole Plaza, the site of the Olympic Cauldron, in downtown Vancouver. Currently, the team boasts dozens of committed youth, as well as two 2012 Olympic hopefuls, and a world cycling champion.

Canadian cyclist Tara Whitten won gold this weekend at the 2011 Track Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. This is Tara’s second consecutive win at this event. On her win, Tara comments, “to be able to defend the title means a lot.” Read story
This week, on March 24th, the women’s Canadian cycling team will take the spotlight as they compete in the Team Pursuit race for the 2011 World Championship in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Head Coach, Richard Wooles, announced the women’s squad earlier this week. The members are Tara Whitten (Edmonton, AB), Laura Brown (Vancouver, BC) and Clara Hughes (Glen Sutton, QC.
