Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer
May 31, 2011This year, the Ride To Conquer Cancer races for its third year in Vancouver, BC. The race takes place June 18 and 19, 2011 as riders take the journey from Vancouver to Seattle. The two-day fundraising cycling event raises money for research and better patient care with all the funds going to the BC Cancer Foundation.
Cycling BC Kicks Off the 2011 Season
May 30, 2011Cycling BC represents the full range of disciplines including Road Biking, Track & Cyclo-cross, Mountain Biking and BMX. On May 28th, they celebrated their official 2011 team launch at Jack Poole Plaza, the site of the Olympic Cauldron, in downtown Vancouver. Currently, the team boasts dozens of committed youth, as well as two 2012 Olympic hopefuls, and a world cycling champion.

A Certain Shade of Heartbreak for Some Canadian Racers at Pan Am Juniors
May 12, 2011Sunday April 17, the races at the 2011 Pan Am Juniors in Mar del Plata Argentina came to a close. It was a hard fought battle that weekend – two+ inches of rain fell in 40 minutes during the race, making the roads greasy and filled with debris. With winds up to 50+ kph, the women were put to the test for a long 60 km. Still, Canadian cyclists remained focused on the end line and although with good time, some racers expected more. Read story
Canada Qualifies for Medals at Junior Pan Ams
April 15, 2011Mar Del Plata, Argentina, is currently hosting top junior cyclists from April 11th through April 17th, 2011.
Alison Beveridge, set the quickest time in the morning session of the 2km individual pursuit 2:35.3., and is now going for Gold. Canada’s Sprint team also made it through to the Bronze medal round later this Tuesday. A great display of Canadian talent was seen throughout the races.Read more… Read story

BC Cycling: Future Champions Development Camp – Day 1
August 10, 2010Having all safely arrived in Rossland last night, we woke up this morning to beautiful sunshine and were ready to tackle day one of the Future Champions Development Camp. Up on the list to start things off was a ride for which we were joined by none other than Will Routley, Canada’s National Road Champ. With his presence undoubtedly igniting some friendly combativity, we completed several mock races that featured some excellent tactical thinking and Cavendish inspired sprint action. In the afternoon Routley gave us an in depth look at the life of a professional cyclist and the journey it takes to become one. To finish up the day Richard Wooles taught us the art of kit-washing to add to our arsenal of self-help cycling know-how.

Two Weekends, Two Wins
July 27, 2010Canadian Track Cyclist Jamie Shankland won the kilo at the FSA Grand Prix
Canadian Jamie Shankland (Vancouver, BC) repeated his performance in the kilo this past weekend. Having won the event at the Alpenrose Challenge the week-end before with a time of 1:09.5, he went in to the FSA Grand Prix with confidence and it paid off with a winning time of 1:07.7. “The idea for both was to go into the races with no expectations as I’m using both events as indicators as to how my form is going into nationals prep time. I knew coming off the last couple months that training has been going very well and I should do alright. I surprised myself in Portland with the win … It feels really good to win two major US track races back to back.”
